The White House said it will recommend Ignacia S. Moreno to head the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division.
Moreno, a counsel on environmental programs at General Electric, previously served in the Justice Department under President Clinton where she was a prosecutor in the Environment and Natural Resources Division.
“Ignacia S. Moreno is a leading practitioner in the field of environmental and natural resources law, with over 18 years of experience in the federal government and in private and corporate practice,” according to a statement [1] released by the White House yesterday.
Washington Post columnist Al Kamen wrote [2] today that Moreno could cause “some serious eyebrow-lifting among the enviro crowd” because she works for GE, which environmentalists have attacked for violating environmental laws.
