Shooting Death Stops Holder’s Plan To Attend Holocaust Museum Event

Attorney General Eric Holder intended to go to an event at the U.S. Holocaust Museum tonight with members of Congress before a shooting there this afternoon changed his plans,  a DOJ spokesperson said.

A gunman — suspected to be alleged white supremacist James Von Brunn — shot a security guard at the busy D.C. museum and wounded himself earlier today, The New York Times said [1]. Both were rushed to The George Washington University Hospital, according to The Times.

There was no indication that the shooting was connected with Holder’s expected visit, McClatchy reported [2].

Ironically, Holder was going to see “Anne and Emmett” a play by Janet Langhart Cohen about the “imaginary conversation after death between Anne Frank and Emmett Till, a merging of the minds between the Holocaust and the racist lynchings in the South,” The Times said.
