Christie Widens Leads as Corzine Disapproval Soars
By Mary Jacoby | July 14, 2009 12:31 pm

Former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie (R) has widened his lead to 12 points over Gov. Jon Corzine (D) in the New Jersey governor’s race.

The lastest Quinnipiac University Poll shows Christie leading Corzine by 53 percent to 41 percent among likely voters in the November balloting. A month ago, Quinnipiac had Christie up by “only” 10 points.

Corzine, a former U.S. senator and chairman of Goldman Sachs, faces an all-time-high disapproval rating of 60 percent of registered voters. Corzine is getting bad marks from voters for his handling of the economy during the deep recession.
