Justice Department Tip-Line Targets Arizona’s ‘Sheriff Joe’

The Justice Department has set up a telephone tip-line as part of its investigation of Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio. As of 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, the mailbox was full.

The tip line, first reported on Tuesday by the Phoenix Business Journal, is in both English and Spanish and asks those with information about the sheriff department’s treatment of Latinos to leave their names and numbers.

Arpaio, who has gained fame as “Sheriff Joe” for his tough enforcement of immigration laws and the arrest of thousands of illegal immigrants, has been accused of unfairly targeting Latinos in his crime sweeps, traffic stops and immigration raids. Arpaio denies wrongdoing, saying his officers are simply enforcing the law. He accused Civil Rights Division attorneys investigating him as posing as reporters at a press conference in October.

Justice Department spokesman Alejandro Miyar told the Phoenix Business Journal that the tip line is part of the federal civil rights inquiry and that the department also is using 800 numbers for other investigations.

The new U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona, Dennis Burke, who was confirmed by the Senate in September,  has said border enforcement is a top priority.

Call the hotline, report the DOJ for bringing terrorists to the US. Turn in ACORN and the New Black Panthers who have committed serial voter fraud and intimidation and the DOJ does nothing. How about allowing ILLEGALS to overrun our Country. Let them have it. GO JOE!

This is ridiculous! We need more Sheriff’s like Sheriff Joe! He actually does his job and enforces the laws like he is supposed to! I love the fact that he isn’t afraid to keep doing exactly what he has been doing to enforce the laws on “Illegal” (key word here people!) Immigration!

  8. Kimberly Mossman says:

Sheriff Joe is our hero. He stands up for following the Law, unlike our so-called Justice Department. If we could just have him head the US Department of Justice, we wouldn’t have ILLEGAL immigrants overtaking our country and show respect to the true LEGAL immigrants who made the sacrifices to become citizens. Thank you Sheriff Joe. We need more leaders like you!

If Americans continue to vote in avowed communists(you know those folks who are going to end war, stop CO2 production, end the meat industry, coal industry, and eventually American industry, bring social justice to the world, etc, etc…)at not only the federal but local levels of government, then Sheriff Joe&most of the rest of us will the ones in jail,& the world, without the strength & positive power of the USA will devolve into unthinkable wars, famine, & carnage of unimaginable scale. Now is the pivotal moment in history.

"A judicial circuit court should be capable of using technology to share information without requiring a trip to an island paradise. It’s especially tone-deaf to plan a pricey conference after the GSA debacle. The taxpayers can’t sustain this kind of spending, and they shouldn’t have to." -- Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa).
