Meet R. Booth Goodwin II

R. Booth Goodwin (West Virginia University, Washington & Lee University School of Law) is nominated to be U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia. He would replace Kasey Warner, who was the U.S. Attorney from November 2001 until July 2005. The district’s current U.S. Attorney is Charles T. Miller.

His vitals:

  • Born in Charleston, W.Va., in 1971.
  • Has been an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the district since 2001.
  • Was an attorney at Goodwin & Goodwin, LLP in Charleston, W.Va., from 1996 to 2001. Worked as a summer law clerk for the firm in 1994 and 1995.
  • Tried 15 cases to verdict and served as lead or co-counsel in each.

UPDATE: On his Senate Judiciary financial disclosure he reported assets of $590,100 mostly from his personal residence valued at $425,500. Goodwin also reported liabilities of $387,000 for a net worth of $203,100.

On his Office of Government Ethics financial disclosure Goodwin reported earning $32,911 in trustee fees from JN Berthy Heirs Trust for 2008 and most of 2009.
