Eastern Pa. U.S. Attorney Picks Top Staff

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania named his top two assistants Monday.

Zane Memeger, who was sworn in Monday as the top prosecutor for the Philadelphia-based office, named Louis D. Lappen as his First Assistant U.S. Attorney and Virginia Gibson as Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney.

Lappen, who has worked in the office for more than 12 years, previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney.

Gibson worked for the DOJ from 1986 to 1996 and then returned in 2003. She has served as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney and as the chief of the Civil Division in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Prior to her government service, Gibson worked for the firm Drinker, Biddle & Reath LLP.
