An FBI agent in the bureau’s Nashville office was indicted Wednesday on charges of wire and bank fraud.
Darin Lee McAllister allegedly defrauded SunTrust Mortgage Co., Inc., in connection with purchases of rental properties in 2006, the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Eastern District of Tennessee said in a statement issued Thursday. He is also accused of defrauding SunTrust Bank in relation to a $100,000 line of credit and of lying on a bankruptcy petition in 2009.
According to a story in The Tennessean, McAllister is the husband of Judith Christie McAllister, a singer and the president Judah Music, a Christian recording company. On applications with SunTrust, Darin McAllister allegedly represented himself as the president of Judah Music and lied about his income.
If convicted on all counts, McAllister faces 345 years in prison and $6.5 million in fines, according to the statement.
