Some 1,971 Justice Department employees owe the Internal Revenue Service a total of $14.3 million, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

The numbers, which cover the 2009 tax year, were provided by the IRS in response to a Post request. The Justice Department ranked 15 on the list of federal agencies with the most outstanding tax delinquents, after several branches of the military and the Departments of Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and Agriculture.
