By Leah Nylen | October 7, 2010 10:46 am

The new U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, Michael Moore, was sworn in Wednesday, the Macon Telegraph reported.

Moore, a defense lawyer from Houston county, was confirmed by the Senate last month. He replaces acting U.S. Attorney G.F. Peterman III, who has headed the office since Frank Maxwell Wood resigned as U.S. Attorney in July 2009.

Chief District Judge Ashley Royal administered the oath of office during the ceremony at the federal courthouse in Macon. About 50 people attended the ceremony.

“I look forward to getting to work,” Moore said, according to the newspaper.
