A partner from one of the oldest law firms in the United States will join the Justice Department Antitrust Division, the New York Law Journal reported Friday.

Katherine Forrest (Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP)

Katherine B. Forrest of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP will be a Deputy Assistant Attorney General, supervising criminal and civil work. She focused on antitrust and intellectual property matters at the New York law firm.

“We are very excited for Katherine as she takes on this new challenge,” Evan R. Chesler, Cravath’s presiding partner, said in a statement to the New York Law Journal. “The firm has a long tradition of commitment to public service and Katherine is joining a long line of Cravath partners who have accepted important government service roles over the years.”

Forrest was on the team of Cravath lawyers that helped United win antitrust approval for its merger with Continental. She joined the firm in 1990.
