By David Stout | March 2, 2011 2:11 pm

Julian M. Joshua has joined Steptoe & Johnson LLP as a partner in the Brussels office as part of the expansion of the firm’s antitrust and competition group.

Joshua is a former longtime deputy chief of the European Commission’s Cartels Unit who led many investigations into price-fixing. He now defends clients in international cartel investigations and was recently recognized by Global Competition Review as one of the top five international cartel lawyers.

“Julian’s experience at the Competition Directorate and his track record defending large multinational corporations in both European and worldwide cartel cases will be a terrific addition to Steptoe’s competition practice,” Roger E. Warin, chairman of the firm, said. “For decades, major cartel investigations have been at the heart of our practice, and Julian is a distinguished addition to a central area of our work.”

Joshua, who speaks English, French, German and Dutch, said he looked forward “to using my experience to help the firm’s clients navigate this challenging environment.”
