John F. Terzaken, who has spent nearly a decade at the Justice Department, is leaving the government to join Allen & Overy LLP as a partner in the firm’s global antitrust practice.
Terzaken has served as the Justice Department Antitrust Division’s Director of Criminal Enforcement since December 2010. He has worked at the department for nine years, previously serving as the Assistant Chief for the Antitrust Division’s National Criminal Enforcement Section. Terzaken oversaw a number of high-profile cartel prosecutions, including the recent case against Barclays Bank PLC, which paid $160 million in penalties.
In his new position with Allen & Overy, he will head the Washington, D.C., office’s cartel defense practice in the United States, according to a news release.
Terzaken is a graduate of American University and the University of Virginia Law School.
