The former chief of staff to late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) has rejoined Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale and Dorr LLP, the firm announced Tuesday.
Eric Mogilnicki, who served as Kennedy’s chief of staff from 2006 through 2009, will join the firm’s public policy practice, focusing on legislative and public policy strategy, congressional investigations, and litigation that involves regulatory or policy issues.
Before joining the senator’s office, Mogilnicki spent a decade at WilmerHale. Prior to his time with the firm, he served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office from 1987 to 1991. -LN
There are several names floating around as possible replacements for Shawn Henry as head of the FBI Washington field office, Tickle the Wire reports.
They include: Kevin Perkins, assistant director of the Criminal Investigative Division at headquarters;
James McJunkin, assistant director of the Counterterrorism Division at headquarters; Kimberly Mertz, head of the New Haven, Conn., FBI office; and Amy Jo Lyons, Assistant Director of the Bureau’s Inspection Division, a headquarters unit that carries out internal audits and sensitive investigations.
Lyons was also on the short list for the plum New York assistant director’s job, after the reassignment of Joe Demarest in March after an internal inquiry into answers he gave about an affair with a subordinate.
Women appear to be getting increasing management opportunities at the Bureau. Demarest was succeeded in the New York job by Janice Fedarcyk from the FBI’s Philadelphia office.
Henry has been head of the Washington field office only since February, Tickle the Wire reported. The 21-year Bureau veteran is returning to headquarters as Executive Assistant Director of the Criminal Cyber Response and Services Branch, the website reported.
