Former Defense secretaryDonald Rumsfeld and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who sat just feet apart from one other at adjoining tables on the far rim of the ballroom in the Hilton Washington hotel, seemed to enjoy Sykes’s jokes about loquacious Vice President Biden and torture.
Their mood quickly changed, however, when Sykes’ went off on her riff about [right-wing talk show host Rush] Limbaugh being the 20th hijacker, according to sources who were seated near the two. (Sykes joked, “I think Rush Limbaughwas the 20th hijacker, but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight.”)
