The National Football League Players Association will team up with the Justice Department and dozens of other entertainers, artists, journalists and athletes to note the ongoing efforts to stem violence against women and to raise public awareness about the continuing problem.

The Justice Department, in a press release on Thursday, said that the celebrities will commemorate the 15th anniversary of the enactment of the Violence Against Woman Act.

According to the news release, in addition to the NFL players association, 16 current players, along with retired Washington Redskins player Darrell Green and retired Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, have lent their names to the cause.

The  campaign includes efforts against stalking, sexual assault, domestic violence and dating violence.

For its part the NFLPA is cosponsoring a contest for teenagers to call attention to teen dating abuse.

In addition to the professional football players and their association, the National Hockey League, the Washington Mystics women’s basketball team, and the U.S. women’s soccer team will participate.
