The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania invoked former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy at his ceremonial investiture on Monday, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Zane Memeger (Morgan Lewis)

U.S. Attorney Zane Memeger told colleagues, state leaders and DOJ officials gathered in Philadelphia for his swearing in that he is inspired by Kennedy’s public service record.

“Simply put, you want to use your talents to make your world a better place for those who will come after you,” Memeger said.

Memeger said he would focus his office’s efforts on combating terrorism and public corruption, along with fighting drug, gun and white-collar crimes.

Attorney General Eric Holder and Democratic Pennsylvania Sens. Arlen Specter and Bob Casey attended the investiture.

Virginia U.S. Attorneys Neil McBride of the Eastern District and Timothy Heaphy of the Western District were also at the swearing-in ceremony. They were roommates with Memeger from 1989 to 1990 while they attended the University of Virgina School of Law.
