Meet Stacia Hylton

Stacia A. Hylton (Northeastern University) was appointed by President Barack Obama on Sept. 20 to become the director the United States Marshals Service. She would replace John Clark, who was named in 2006 by President George W. Bush.

Her vitals:

  • Born in Red Bank, N.J. in 1960.
  • Has run Hylton Kirk & Associates, LLC., a consulting company in Arlington, VA, since March 2010.
  • Served as the Federal Detention Trustee from 2004 to 2010.
  • Worked for the U.S. Marshals Service from 1980 to 2004. From 2003 to 2004, she served as Assistant Director of the Prisoner Operations Division. In 2001, she was acting Deputy Director of the Marshals Service.
  • From 1999 to 2003, served as Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal for the District of South Carolina.
  • From 1993 to 1999 served as chief of Judicial Programs, Judicial Security Division of the U.S. Marshals.
  • From 1990 to 1993, Hylton was a witness security inspector for the U.S. Marshals.
  • From 1989 to 190, she was a program manager in the Employee Development Division of the U.S. Marshals.
  • From 1986 to 1989, was a U.S. Marshals Instructor at the training academy in Glynco, Ga.
  • From 1980 to 1986, was Deputy U.S. Marshal.
  • Currently earns $105,000 annually as part of her federal retirement salary.

UPDATE: In her Office of Government Ethics form, Hylton reported receiving $112,500 for her consulting services for detention matters, federal relations, and acquisitions and mergers, from March to July 2010.
