The Justice Department on Sunday urged the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit to reverse a judge’s ruling against a major provision of the health care reform law.
The DOJ appealed Florida-based U.S. District Judge C. Roger Vinson’s Jan. 31 ruling, which struck down the provision in the statute that forces almost all Americans to get health insurance or endure substantial financial penalties.
Oral arguments before a three-judge panel of the Atlanta-based federal appeals court will start in June, according to CNN. The case, brought by Florida, is Florida v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Other states have made similar appeals.
